Wanna help Deb & Co. to harvest “our” garlic?

Due to weather difficulties, the farmers decided to act fast and will be harvesting the garlic NEXT SATURDAY, JULY 18, 11-2. Members are invited to come to the farm and give a hand.  You are instructed to bring your own picnic lunch, plenty of water to drink.  You will be working in the soil, so wear shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty and a hat for the sun. In case of a postponement due to the weather  a notification will be posted on the farm website  under Upcoming Events (here: http://www.stoneledgefarmny.org/events/). Directions to the farm.  Deb says that the garlic is large and looks ready to go and hopefully there will be sunshine for the day.  Questions, e-mail Deb using this form.

There is some talk of carpooling as a group.  If you are interested, speak to one of the volunteers at your pick-up site, or email us at yorkvillecsa@gmail.com.

Our friends at Upper Green Side submitted the following item about the green market program in our area.

Both Upper East Side seasonal Greenmarkets will be reopening in early July.  The 92nd Street market (on First Avenue) will re-open on Sunday July 5th and will continue every Sunday through Thanksgiving.  The 82nd Street market (between First and York) will re-open the following Saturday on July 11th and continue every Saturday through Thanksgiving.  Both will have some new farmers so check them out.  Both markets open around 10am.
