The Carnegie Hill CSA along with the Church of Heavenly Rest and the Lower East Side Ecology Center are sponsoring another Electronic Recycling Day on Tuesday, Sept 22, on the sidewalk in front of the Church during regular CSA hours (4:00 - 7:00 PM).

This has become a popular annual event, and we always collect a huge amount.  Please save your unwanted, unused or nonworking electronics, and get them to the church on time.  Businesses aren’t allowed to drop off electronics, but household items like TVs, cell phones, computers and computer components, printers, etc. are accepted.  Tell your friends and co-workers.

We’ll have flyers at the membership table soon.  You can also check the list of what’s accepted at www.lesecologycenter.org.

Our 13th season starts Tuesday, June 9th.  This is also Museum Mile, when Fifth Avenue closes to traffic at 5 PM.  The Church of the Heavenly Rest is participating in this event, so we are moving just for the June 9th CSA pickup, to their E. 90th Street entrance and the Darlington Hall gym.  This is accessed up a flight of 7 steps, 2 doors east of the Fifth Avenue front of the church.  When you go up the stairs, turn left and we’ll be there.  We will also post direction signs.

CSA Pickup Church of the Heavenly Rest, inside front wooden doors on 5th Ave. at E. 90th St., from 3:30-6:50 PM Tuesdays.  Please adhere to these times; we need to set up and break down the site on schedule.

Bring your own bag to take the veggies home.  If you forget, we have handy canvas bags on hand for $10 (benefits Grass-roots, a local environmental organization) or supermarket plastic bags for $1 (benefits…us! for Core Group funds to run the CSA).

Can’t pick up some weeks?  Give your share to a friend or neighbor.  When they come, they should go to the members’ table and give your name.  Let them know it’s BYOB!  Volunteers will help them pick up your share.

Produce left at closing is donated to the Doe Fund, a nonprofit organization that takes in formerly homeless men and women and teaches them job skills and self-sufficiency (www.doe.org)

The site for our CSA is donated by the Church of the Heavenly Rest, to support our local farmers and our community. All church employees get complimentary Half veggie shares—yeah! (www.heavenlyrest.org).

Sign up to Volunteer! This is a requirement for all members.  The Volunteer Posting has all the info on jobs and timeslots
