Dear CSA Member

Market Place items can still be purchased by all CSA members from the farm website. The order will be delivered with the Fruit Shares to the CSA site. If you have any questions, please send us an e-mail at info@stoneledgefarmny.org.

Jim Hyland of Winter Sun Farms has extended a generous offer for CSA members. His message follows:

Join Winter Sun Farms and eat local all winter long!

Winter Sun Farms is once again selling winter shares of locally grown veggies and berries that have been carefully frozen so you can eat local all winter long. Registration is online online at http://csa.farmigo.com/join/wintersunfarms/winter2011-2012, and pick-ups are offered monthly, from December through April, throughout the NYC and Hudson Valley areas. Price is $132 (4 Month Share) and $165 (5 Month Share). In the spirit of CSA and in the aftermath of the flooding we are offering a discount to all Stoneledge Farm members. Just enter the code CSA at checkout (or CSACHECK if paying by check). And if you’d like that discount to go back to Stoneledge Farm, send an email or put Stoneledge in subject line of your check, and we’ll forward that amount to the farm. Support local farms and enjoy a variety of fantastic local produce this winter! www.wintersunfarms.com

Jim has also offered to deliver all of the Market Place items throughout the winter for CSA members. The delivery of Market Place orders will be with the Winter Sun monthly winter share delivery to the distribution sites that they serve.

Enjoy the beautiful fall weather.

The member message and Fruit Share for this upcoming week follows. The weather looks good for Saturday for the Garlic Planting. We are looking forward to working with the members that come to the farm.

The registration programing for 2012 is coming along. We are working with a new team this year, Farmigo, and you will see some changes to the web registration once we open the online registration site. I will send more information next week to pass on to members to get the 2012 registration started. The system is easier for members to navigate and the Market Place online store is much easier to access. We are excited to be working with this new system.

Looking forward to this weekend.

Deb

Dear CSA Member,

Come to the farm and help with the Garlic Plating for the 2012 season.  October 22, 2011 from 9-3 but arrive when you can.  Rain date will be October 29.  Any changes will be posted on the farm website under the Farm Blog.  Please bring your lunch, a drink and wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty.  If it is cold out, make sure you wear enough to keep warm because we will be working outside all day.  We are looking forward to a day to be together with members planting garlic for next season.  Kids are very welcome.  For directions go to the farm website and click on Contact Information and go to the 1104 Sandy Plains Road, Leeds, NY  12451 address.  This has the best parking for us right now.  If you are coming, please send us an e-mail at info@stoneledgefarmny.org so we have a contact in case there is a change in plans. Hope you can attend.

Market Place orders are still being taken on the farm website for all members.  The orders will be delivered this week with the Fruit Shares.

Enjoy the beautiful weather.

Bosc Pears – Elegant, russet pear.  Very sweet with a distinctive crunch.

Golden Delicious Apple – Light yellow apple with a sweet flavor.  Excellent eating and also very good in cooking.  Tender skin so handle gently.

Cortland Apple – Good for cooking.  Make rosy colored applesauce by leaving the skin on the apple while cooking.

Empire Apple – Excellent eating.  Apple developed in and for New York State orchards.  Crisp, juicy and very sweet.
